‘Round the World’
Rumon Gamba, conductor

The LSO Family Concert is open to all families. The London Symphony Orchestra, joined by the BellSouth Youth Ensembles, present a morning of music specially prepared for young people and including audience participation. This Festival's program invites the children to travel Round the World, not in 80 days but in 60 minutes as the LSO plays an exciting selection of great music from different countries. Take the family on a journey of discovery to destinations from Germany - Brahms Hungarian Dance No. 5; via Italy - Verdi's Grand March from Aida; to Russia - Prokofiev's Troika; through the United States - Bernstein's West Side Story; and back across the pond to England - Elgar's Nimrod and Arnold's Scottish Dance.

Ruman Gamba is Chief Conductor and Music Director of the Iceland Symphony Orchestra. He works regularly with the BBC orchestras and serves as a guest conductor throughout Europe. In North America he has worked with the Toronto Symphony, New York Philharmonic (youth concerts), Indianapolis Symphony and the Florida Philharmonic. With Chandos Records, Gamba has won several awards as part of the acclaimed Chandos Film Music series.
