FIF Guild party in estate setting

Invitations have gone out for an early evening spring social, combining food, entertainment and an opportunity to tour a local estate.

"Music in the Garden" is the theme of the Florida International Festival Guild's Garden Party, planned from 5 to 8 p.m. April 7.

Festivities will center around the Clark estate at 5121 Ridgewood Ave., Port Orange.

Guests will have an opportunity to tour the extensive riverfront gardens, the Chapel and Tavern in the Garden, Agatha's Cottage and Snow White's Cottage.

An added attraction this year is the Sunshine Express, a Belle Meade club/lounge train car on the site. Renovations have just been completed on the train car with interior appointments reflecting an earlier era.

Carrabba's Italian Grill is donating the many delicacies on the menu, and speciality beers, wines and soft drinks also are included in the $35 ticket price.

Several musicians also will be performing throughout the grounds.

At 6 p.m., local jewelry designer John Dees of Mainly Gold will unveil the 2005 Festival Guild Pin. This is the seventh such, one-of-a-kind accent piece. The guild sells tickets leading up to the FIF Ladies Luncheon July 29, when the pin will be presented to a lucky ticket-holder.

Proceeds from all guild projects will go toward this year's Florida International Festival, July 15-30, highlighted by the biennial visit of the London Symphony Orchestra.
